Far Afield
Well, our last trip to the great state of Nebraska didn’t turn out quite as I had expected. After traveling about 15 hours on three airplanes through four airports we arrived at the ranch at about 10 p.m. on Thursday night. We were tired. However, it was so good to see our hosts, Mike and Tee Jay Henderson again. They, with their usual mastery, provided lodging, incredible food, and oversaw our schedule. Amazing people.
The next morning arrived sunny and mild and we started work about 9:30 a.m. when our first client arrived. Over the next ten days of work (two for travel and eight for work), we would be involved with 15 people. On Friday morning showed up, as he always does. Our team consisted of Alistair, Tee Jay, Brittany, and, on Monday, Bob, who came in from Illinois to help. Lee, ever the servant, showed up early every morning to cook breakfast and to do anything that we needed to be done. The first deliverance went well. However, by the time Friday afternoon rolled around I knew that something was going on. I felt lousy.
Throughout the next nine days, I had what was probably some kind of flu or something. (Yes, I had already had my flu shot). I was coughing the kind of cough where you think that you will be spitting up pieces of shredded lung. My skin hurt, my hair hurt, I had mucus in my eyes so that I would awake and be unable to open them. Every part of me hurt. I had a fever. I was exhausted. The only thing that I didn’t have (PTL), was nausea. My precious hosts volunteered to take me to the doctor’s (five hours round trip – took a pass on that) and provided me with different kinds of cough syrup that different people brought, knowing that I was sick. (No stores to go to to get medicines.)
Yet, despite all that, I was involved in every deliverance. I successfully played my role (albeit not as well as usual) and, on occasion, still had some insight from the Lord that was helpful to the process. The rest of the team was amazing. They stepped up to the plate and did what needed to be done with the same level of insight and success that we would have had had I been fully functioning. I really didn’t even need to be there. The team and my hosts tried carried me, providing me with everything that I needed. I so appreciate these e precious and gifted people and I am honored to call them friends and colleagues.
So, here it is more than three weeks after I returned home and I am still recovering. Still coughing some, still tired. It is getting better though. I would give you more details about our visit, except that I don’t remember much of it. I feel like I was in a stupor much of the time.
So far, we’ve been out to the Sand Hills of Nebraska four times and are going back for another visit in June of 2020. We are looking forward to going out again. I need to get some boots, chaps, buckles, and a hat.
Thanksgiving on the Home Front
While my tendency is to emphasize the unusual, like going to Nebraska for an extended visit, the reality is that my two teams and I continue to do 2-3 deliverances every week. I am so thankful for their faithfulness in this work. I am thankful for Alistair McPherson, my traveling buddy and occult and religious specialist; Dr. Carmela O’Hare, my clinical specialist; MaryKay McGirt, generational curse specialist; Shelly Wolf, scribe extraordinaire; Moriah Vega, intern; and to others who pass through as they can. Some of these have been with me for 12 plus years, others for a few months. Each, however, has committed themselves to give 3-10 hours a week to helping God’s kids. They schedule their vacations around our times together. They come even if they aren’t feeling great. They bring with them some ever-sharpening spiritual gifts. Some are seers. Some are knowers. Some come and pray. I love and appreciate each one and pray for more to join us.
I am thankful for all of you who pray for us, who tell your stories of God giving you freedom through the deliverance process, and who refer friends and family members to us for assistance. We couldn’t do all that we do without your support.
I am thankful for my wife Carol, who has been supportive of her husband’s strange calling for close to 40 years now. She has joined me in paying the cost of doing this work.
I am also thankful to our Lord, who honored me with this very special and very needed calling. I have many reasons to be thankful.
Have an incredible thanksgiving.
